Best NBA Prospects in 2023 Draft

The Five Best NBA Prospects in the 2023 Draft

The NBA Draft will occur on June 22, 2023, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The San Antonio Spurs won the first overall pick at the NBA Draft Lottery a few weeks ago. They will be able to draft not just one of the best NBA prospects, but a generational talent unlike anything the league has seen.

The Charlotte Hornets have the second overall pick. They may not necessarily take the best player available. Instead, they may draft the best prospect to pair with star point guard Lamelo Ball. Portland, Houston, and Detroit round up the third thru the fifth pick, respectively. Finally, these are the five best prospects in the 2023 NBA Draft class.

Best NBA Prospects (1-5)

1. Victor Wembanyama

Analysts consider  Victor Wembanyama the best NBA prospect in decades. Many scouts argue that Wembenyama has the highest ceiling of any prospect in NBA history. The 7 foot 4 center currently weighs 230 pounds. Moreover, Victor Wembanyama’s wingspan has been measured at eight feet. Upon being drafted, he will have the longest wingspan in the NBA and tower over the league’s average player height. Last season, as an eighteen-year-old playing for the Metropolitans in LNB Pro A, he averaged 21.6 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.

One of my favorite things about Wembanyama is his ability to tune out trash talk from opponents and continue to stay focused. He is extremely mature for his age, which will likely help his development as a player. Most teams believe that he will need to add muscle to his frame to deal with the physicality of the NBA. A handful of French basketball players became stars in the National Basketball Association, notably Hall-of-Famer Tony Parker and three-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert. Victor Wembanyama has the potential to be the best player not just from France but in the entire World.

2. Brandon Miller

Brandon Miller was among the most exciting players during the college season and has remained one of the best NBA prospects for a while. Miller is a lengthy wing player with elite playmaking skills, versatility, and athleticism. In addition, he is an excellent shooter and can guard one through five exceptionally well. As a freshman at Alabama, he averaged 18.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. They list Miller as six foot nine inches tall and two hundred pounds. Though there is a huge jump from college to the NBA, Brandon Miller is expected to fit the bill.

3. Scoot Henderson

Scoot Henderson may be the most athletic player in this year’s draft class. He is a very unselfish player with elite court vision and passing. Henderson attacks the rim exceptionally well but must improve his outside shooting. In the NBA’s G League, he shot 27.5% this year from three. Henderson has been said to have a tremendous work ethic. Despite his offensive shortcomings, Henderson remains one of the best NBA prospects.

4. Amen Thompson

Amen Thompson is six foot six inches tall with a seven-foot wingspan. He currently weighs 214 pounds and is highly explosive. Thompson has excellent ball handling and court vision, with elite versatility on both sides.

5. Ausar Thompson

Ausar Thompson is the twin brother of Amen Thompson. He is listed as a prospect at six foot six with a seven-foot wingspan. Thompson weighs 218 pounds, with a slightly heavier frame than his brother. Ausar is an elite scorer who prefers to attack the rim. Moreover, he can defend 1-on-1 as well as any prospect and makes a considerable impact off-ball due to his instincts and athleticism.

What 2023 NBA Draft Prospects have the highest ceiling?

Victor Wembenyama has a ceiling of all-time great or potentially the greatest of all time. He is an anomaly who is ready to take the NBA by storm. Furthermore, the Thompson brothers have elite athleticism and world-class talent on both sides of the ball. In conclusion, both brothers have a ceiling of NBA Hall-of-Famer.

Will the Spurs Draft Victor Wembenyama?

Everyone, from insiders to NBA GMs, fully expects the San Antonio Spurs to draft Victor Wembenyama. Despite not yet playing a single game in the United States, Wembenyama is the best NBA prospect since Lebron James. In addition, the nineteen-year-old will be the longest and tallest basketball player in the NBA upon being drafted.
